To anyone
considering using Trey Coon and the guides at Yellowstone TroutScout
Outfitters:
Trey has guided me,
my wife, and friends for over three years now and I can honestly say
he played an important role in our decision to move to the Bozeman
area. He is an excellent guide: very patient with beginners,
passionate about his job, and always seems to know
where the fish are. In addition, he's great fun to be with,
has a lot of interests and has a lovely family.

My particular
interest always seems to catch that "big one" and each summer my
wife and I have landed several fish in the 21"+ category.
So, in closing, if
you have an opportunity to hook up with Trey, I recommend him
highly!

As you know, it is
a very long way from Germany to Livingston, MT. The reasons why we
decided to come back again in September 2006 are very simple: We
wanted to repeat the eventful experiences we had in 2005 -- perfect
days in a beautiful surrounding together with the most entertaining,
lovable and skilled fly-fishing-guides we ever had.

When we came back
in 2006, it was like returning to an old friend. We had a hard time
finally having to say good by. We want to thank you for your
patience, dedication, the big fish (21"+), for making us laugh even
in the worst situations and for spending time with us as we
experienced the many fantastic restaurants that Livingston has to
offer.
We want to let you
know that we did not take all this for granted. Trey Coon and the
guides of Yellowstone TroutScout are entirely responsible for the
fact that we fell in love with Montana and its people.

Trey Coon and his
top of the line guides at Yellowstone TroutScout are truly the best
guides in Montana. They are a full service operation that does
not miss a beat. My pictures say it all.

My
friends and I have been fishing in the Livingston area for the past
nine years, and for the last seven, Trey Coon has been our guide.
You won't find a friendlier more knowledgeable guide. Trey has brought
the true Montana fly-fishing experience to us. He knows the waters,
those special holes, and can be a great teacher when needed. I think
what sets Trey apart from most guides is that he loves what he does.
It keeps us coming back. Next year, I think I'll take my son and
all the guesswork is done. I know I have the best guide. See you
in Montana.

My
wife, son and I have been fishing with Trey and his guides for the
last seven years. He runs a first class operation. We have always
enjoyed our time spent on the river. He not only is knowledgeable
about the fishing, but he can also enlighten you with a history
lesson.
I have
fished with many guides on the western rivers, but we keep coming
back to fish with Trey. We have always has a wonderful time, not
to mention we always catch fish.

One
sunny August day we were floating the Yellowstone. We had been productive
with the famous Yellowstone Cutties all morning, pounding the hopper
banks, but the action slowed after noon. My lefty 12 year old son,
Devon, had grown up on Pennsylvania limestone and freestone streams,
and knew how to catch a seam dead drift and I knew that he could
bring a stubborn trout to rise given half the chance. We were heading
to some slower water and I noticed some surface insects and switched
him from the Chernobyl ant that he has been flogging to a #18 PA
caddis special that we developed back home, and that he was expert
on.
Trey
had us on a perfect drift and Devon was dry casting when he spied
a large shadow about 8 inches from shore. He was armed with an LL
Bean 4 weight and more experience than most fishermen twice his
age. I was armed with a Sony video camera. The currents were braided
and complicated, but the drift was perfect, the setup solid, and
the result without equal. That brown took us a quarter mile towards
Livingston. Twenty-two inch brown, high noon on an 18 dry. Not bad.

It
is great to go fishing with Trey Coon and the other guides. They
all are fun to be with and they help you catch fish. A day on the
river with them is always a fine day. You will have a good lunch,
improve your techniques, catch fish and they are lively and have
good stories.

I
can't put into words how much fun it was to spend time with you
in the great outdoors of Montana. The fishing was excellent, hunting
superb, and best of all the camaraderie was awesome. The gentlemen
that I brought with me were thrilled beyond belief at this surprise
trip that Trey and I planned for them. It is an excellent family
or work vacation for anyone. I highly recommend it for anyone who
loves the outdoors in the prettiest surroundings you could ever
imagine. Thanks for everything.

Jack
and I remember fondly the trip we took down the Yellowstone. In
spite of the rain, we had a very productive fishing day and are
hoping to come again this year. We talk about how many good fish
we caught on the fly you made and named after us, and laugh at the
other boats that went by and wondered what we were using to do so
well. Hope there is lots of water this year and that we can make
a return trip.

Trey
Coon is the best guide on the Yellowstone. He knows every riffle,
every patch of foam, every stone and almost every trout. Like most
of us, he has lived in the East, but has made a new life for himself
and his family in the last best place, and knows what spending time
on the river means to those of us who do so only for vacations.
It doesn't matter how much fishing you have done, or whether you
have done any at all, Trey is the ideal guide. You not only catch
fish, but you'll make a friend, and you'll come away wishing you
could do it every day.

I
would like to invite all of you sportsman out there to give Trey
Coon a chance to make your hunting or fishing experience a good
one. I have known Trey for about 4 years now. Each year I hook up
with Trey to do some bird hunting and fishing. Let me tell you not
once have I ever come home skunked. We have always come home with
a few upland game birds especially pheasants which is a blast to
hunt. We have chased fish down the Yellowstone several times and
half of those days we almost caught our limit. Some of my favorite
hunts are the waterfowl hunts. Trey has some of the best access
around the area to waterfowl and fishing. We slay geese and ducks
every year. In fact being it is one of my favorite sports I try
to make it out 2 to 3 times a year for waterfowl. I hope you all
give Trey the opportunity to make your fishing or hunting experience
a blast.

I've
fished with lots of guides before, but none as patient, pleasant,
knowledgeable and fun as Trey. We always catch fish, even when other
boats don't. I met Trey 4 years ago when he guided a trip on the
Yellowstone for two friends and me. They had not fished from a boat
before. What a riot! The three of us have gone back every year since
to have Trey do another trip. Our second trip resulted in so many
fish, I had to ice my arm that night. Trey's patience and skill
resulted in my friend, who had fished little before, actually catching
more fish than I did, and on dry flies! I can't think of a better
vacation for anyone: beautiful blue Montana days, an excellent guide
who knows how to catch fish and a great shore lunch.

My youngest son
and I have been setting aside a day for the last five years to fish
the Yellowstone with Trey. Each float has been unique because of
Treys’ river knowledge and his enthusiasm for making each day a
memorable adventure. We would be very disappointed if we could not
fish with Trey, and certainly recommend him for anyone wanting a
truly great fishing experience.

My
father and I spent a week fishing the Yellowstone with Trey and we
could not have had a better time. During the day, Trey was our
friendly, knowledgeable, patient guide, and needless to say, he
really put us on the fish! I'll never forget Trey expertly guiding
the drift boat through fast water while my reel screamed into the
backing and an angry rainbow leapt 50 yards downstream, all in the
midst of some of the most beautiful scenery you'll ever see.

At
night, we hit the Chophouse for some great steaks and then returned
to the Mission Creek Ranch B&B. What a place! The pictures I took
out our window could be postcards, and the breakfasts, fantastic.
It’s hard to imagine a better place to spend a week. Thanks Trey!
My father and I will be back.

A day on the river
with TroutScout is a memory to remember. The weather was perfect.
The company was great. The guides do a great job of keeping us on
the fish and the fish even cooperated. Lunch was excellent and as
usual, too much. A few more Snicker bars would have made the day
even more perfect. I have fished with this guide service several
times as well as other members of my family and can testify that you
will have a good experience if you do the same.
Thanks for a great
time.

We have been
visiting SW Montana for several years now and whenever we are in the
Livingston area we book a couple of float trips with Trey Coon and
the guides from Yellowstone TroutScout. Trey always gets us into
fish and we have had wonderful days on the water.

Last September we
floated the Yellowstone near Big Timber and it was a perfect day in
the 70's without a bit of wind. By the end of the day Alexis had a
"Montana Grand Slam" (rainbow, cutthroat, brown, and white fish) and
a memory to last a lifetime. On another occasion we were below
Carbella and Trey pulled us into a side channel because "most guys
just row right past it". I must have floated a hopper thirty times
over the same water and said to Trey "how many times should I do
this?" He said "just wait" and suddenly there was a huge explosion
on the water. The biggest cutthroat I ever saw was bending my rod
double and heading for Livingston. Trey jumped out of the boat
yelling "I know that guy!" and started after him. I'd like to say I
got him but he threw the hook after thirty seconds. It was a day
I'll never forget.
Trey has always
gone the extra mile to help us and our fishing skills have improved
as a result. His easy going personality is appreciated by both of
us, especially when things don't go as planned. From picture perfect
days in the 70's to a blinding hail storm to a 30+mph tailwind we've
always had fun, caught some fish, and appreciate Montana a little
more after each trip.
In
the Livingston area we always stay at the Mission Creek Bed and
Breakfast. From the time we pull up in front of the ranch house and
Gus and Mollie, Doug's two Aussies, run out to greet us we know
we're in a special place. Doug Ensign, owner and breakfast chef
extraordinaire, greets us with "nice to see ya" and we feel like
we've come home. The next morning we meet the other guests, play
with the dogs, and have a great breakfast before we set out for the
day. Doug always has interesting suggestions for local sights or he
will take you out to meet the "girls" (cows) and give you some bit
of local lore. The B & B is beautiful on the inside, the rooms are
quiet, and the ranch itself is a place you could explore for your
entire stay. If you want a touch of old fashioned western
hospitality and a feel for "the way things used to be" you can't do
any better than Mission Creek.
